Message from Coach Thompson

Why

“If you want something you have never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done.” Thomas Jefferson

This past week we were able to release this book. In the first week, we sold over 200 copies and that puts us on our way to our goal of 1,000 books. That goal isn't for glory for the book, it is our prayer that we can share our message with 1,000 coaches who have profound impacts on the lives of the student-athletes they are entrusted with.

I wanted to offer each of the coaches in the HBCA with an opportunity to download Day 1 for free and see how the process works. My hope is that every coach that purchases this book will gain one or two nuggets to take away and help them in their relationship with the Lord, their spouse, and their team.

If you think you know a coach who could or benefit from strengthening their relationship with the Lord or leading their team, then 31 Days and Ways to Become a More Faithful and Successful Coach is for them.

FCA Message from Jason Brand & Billy Holder

Leaders Set the Standard

Ready

“And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.” — Mark 12:30

Set

Coaches are leaders. They lift up players and other coaches. Their hard work, in turn, inspires fans and all invested in the game. Even if you’re not necessarily a clipboard-holding, headset-wearing, sidelines-sitting coach, it’s likely that you’re a leader in another way. Maybe you lead your family or a team at work. Perhaps you’re seen as a leader in your neighborhood, club or church. As an FCA supporter, we see you as one of our leaders. You help make our ministry possible. As Christians, we’re all leaders. In 2 Corinthians 5:20, we are deemed “Christ’s ambassadors.”

As we know and grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ, we lead others to do the same.

This year, FCA is challenging coaches and athletes to give 100 percent to Christ. Not only does this mean making a faith decision to follow Jesus; it also means giving all of life to Him in such a way that Christ becomes the standard. While others may hold great influence, Jesus Christ defines success. He alone is our win. This is the standard of a Christ-following leader. Others will follow Christ because we live our lives according to His standard.

How do we know we’re on the right track? We model the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23), and we give Him our all in doing so. Out of every voice wanting to set measures of success for us, we let Christ’s be the only one.

Go

• Who looks to you for leadership?

• Who has influenced your standard?

• What does living with “a standard of Christ” look like in your life?

• What needs to change so Christ gets 100 percent of you?
